I work at an animal shelter and we use Facebook pretty heavily to keep up with not only the public but also everything happening inside the building. There was a post about a dog needing transport to Kansas City His name is Ed and he's a 12 year old Golden Retriever. He was originally found pinned under a tree in King Jack Park. We weren't sure if he was going to make it through his first night with us at the shelter. He gradually got better and was even adopted. His new owner took him to the veterinarian to get him checked out and found out that he had an extremely severe case of heartworms. It was going to cost over $1000 to get his heartworms under control. Sadly enough, he came back to us at the shelter.
I worried for him that night. Who was going to adopt a senior dog that requires thousands of dollars to get his health in a manageable state? The answer came in the form of a rescue group that stepped forward to take him. Corey and I offered to do the transport since we were heading up anyway. After one tiny mishap of trying to load him into the truck by myself, we were on our way. He curled up in the back of the truck and slept almost the whole way. He'll be waiting in his foster home for about a week and then he'll be headed to Colorado to meet up with his rescue and hopefully his new home.
Good luck buddy.
